Not really much point in the 2.2 in the Civic now unless you want to tow a caravan. There was speculation about this from the launch of the 1.6iDTEC. The 1.6iDTEC is much more economical. The 2.2iDTEC doesn't do much better than thee 1.8iVTEC petrol that does about 48mpg, is cheaper to buy and is more readily available.
. Personally as I work for a mazda and honda dealership, I can compare the two. Obviously the honda 2.2 is better. Servicing is the major problem with the mazda engines, they need to be well maintained But the service parts are pricey. For example front brake brake pads are £125. And theyre £44 for a civic.
